Disclaimers
At Engine Remaps, we aim to provide professional vehicle software, diagnostic and remapping services with clear information about the risks, limitations and responsibilities involved.
This Disclaimer applies to all services provided by Engine Remaps, including but not limited to ECU remapping, AdBlue/SCR software solutions, DPF-related software work, EGR-related software work, diagnostics, Stage 1 and Stage 2 remapping, gearbox/TCU tuning, performance tuning, economy tuning, mobile remapping and related vehicle software services.
Please read this Disclaimer carefully before booking or proceeding with any service. By booking, paying for, authorising or allowing us to carry out any work on your vehicle, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted the terms below.
1. Important Legal and Regulatory Notice
Vehicle software modifications may have legal, regulatory, MOT, insurance, warranty, finance, lease, environmental and mechanical implications.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that any requested work is lawful and suitable for the vehicle's intended use.
Engine Remaps does not provide legal, insurance, financial or manufacturer warranty advice. Any information provided on our website, by telephone, by message, by email, in person or through our representatives is for general guidance only.
If you are unsure whether a modification is lawful or suitable for your vehicle, you should obtain independent legal advice, speak to your insurer, check your finance or lease agreement, and consult the relevant authorities before proceeding.
2. Off-Road / Non-Road Use Only for Certain Services
Some vehicle software modifications, including certain AdBlue / SCR, DPF, EGR, catalytic converter, emissions-system or motorsport calibrations, may not be lawful for use on UK public roads.
Where a service disables, removes, bypasses, alters or interferes with an emissions-control system, that service is intended only for lawful non-road use, such as vehicles used solely on private land, motorsport vehicles, export vehicles, research vehicles, or vehicles otherwise not used on public roads.
Using a modified vehicle on public roads where it no longer complies with applicable emissions, construction and use, roadworthiness, MOT or vehicle approval requirements may be unlawful and may result in fines, penalties, prohibition notices, MOT failure, insurance issues, vehicle immobilisation or other consequences.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is not used unlawfully after any modification has been carried out.
Engine Remaps reserves the right to refuse any work where we believe the requested service may be unlawful, unsuitable, unsafe, misleading or inappropriate for the vehicle's intended use.
3. AdBlue, SCR, DPF, EGR and Emissions-System Disclaimer
Modern vehicles may be fitted with emissions-control systems including, but not limited to:
- AdBlue systems;
- SCR systems;
- diesel particulate filters;
- exhaust gas recirculation systems;
- catalytic converters;
- NOx sensors;
- oxygen sensors;
- diesel oxidation catalysts;
- particulate matter sensors;
- emissions monitoring systems;
- related ECU software and warning systems.
These systems are fitted to help the vehicle meet EURO emissions standards, emissions requirements and vehicle type-approval requirements
Disabling, removing, bypassing, altering or interfering with any emissions-control system may make the vehicle unlawful for public-road use and may affect MOT status, insurance cover, manufacturer warranty, finance agreements, lease agreements, resale value and environmental compliance.
Engine Remaps does not warrant or represent that any AdBlue, SCR, DPF, EGR, catalytic converter or emissions-related software modification is legal for public-road use.
Any decision to request or proceed with emissions-related software work is made at the customer's own risk and responsibility.
4. MOT Test Implications
We do not guarantee that any modified vehicle will pass an MOT test, roadside inspection, emissions check, manufacturer inspection, dealer inspection, insurance inspection or any future regulatory test.
Current and future MOT outcomes may depend on many factors, including:
- visible emissions-control equipment;
- dashboard warning lights;
- diagnostic fault codes;
- exhaust smoke or opacity;
- emissions readings;
- vehicle condition;
- tester assessment;
- future changes to MOT testing rules;
- future changes to emissions enforcement.
A vehicle that passes an MOT on one occasion may not necessarily pass a later MOT.
Engine Remaps is not responsible for any MOT failure, retest fee, repair cost, recovery cost, vehicle downtime, lost income, inconvenience or other cost arising from the vehicle's condition, modification, emissions status or use after our service.
5. Insurance Notification
Vehicle remapping and emissions-system modifications may be classed as significant vehicle modifications by insurers.
You must notify your insurance provider before or immediately after any modification is carried out. This includes ECU remapping, performance tuning, gearbox tuning, AdBlue/SCR software changes, DPF-related changes, EGR-related changes and any other vehicle software or hardware modification.
Failure to disclose a modification may affect your insurance cover and could result in:
- increased premiums;
- restricted cover;
- cancelled insurance;
- refused claims;
- reduced claim payments;
- policy avoidance;
- personal liability following an incident.
Engine Remaps is not responsible for any insurance-related consequence, including cancelled policies, refused claims, increased premiums, reduced payouts, disputes or losses arising from non-disclosure or modification of the vehicle.
6. Warranty, Manufacturer Support, Finance and Lease Agreements
Vehicle software modifications may be detectable by manufacturers, dealers, diagnostic tools, insurers, finance companies, lease companies and future software updates.
Any modification may affect:
- manufacturer warranty;
- extended warranty;
- dealer goodwill repairs;
- service plans;
- manufacturer recalls or software updates;
- finance agreements;
- PCP agreements;
- HP agreements;
- lease agreements;
- fleet agreements;
- resale value;
- vehicle history records.
The customer is responsible for checking the terms of any warranty, finance, lease, fleet, insurance or ownership agreement before authorising any work.
Engine Remaps is not responsible for any warranty refusal, finance issue, lease breach, manufacturer dispute, dealer issue, loss of resale value or third-party consequence arising from a vehicle modification.
7. Vehicle Condition and Mechanical Risk
Before work is carried out, the customer confirms that the vehicle is in a safe, roadworthy and mechanically sound condition, unless faults have been clearly disclosed to us in advance.
Remapping and tuning may increase power, torque, boost pressure, gearbox load, drivetrain load, fuel demand and thermal stress. This may place additional strain on vehicle components.
Components that may be affected include, but are not limited to:
- clutch;
- flywheel;
- gearbox;
- turbocharger;
- injectors;
- fuel pump;
- engine internals;
- cooling system;

- drivetrain;
- battery;
- sensors;
- wiring;
- ECU;
- TCU;
- DPF;
- EGR system;
- AdBlue/SCR system.
A remap or software change may reveal or accelerate existing weaknesses in worn, high-mileage, poorly maintained, previously modified, faulty or damaged vehicles.
Engine Remaps is not responsible for the failure of any component that is worn, weak, defective, poorly maintained, previously damaged, incorrectly fitted, previously modified or already operating close to its limit.
8. Diagnostics Disclaimer
Any diagnostic check carried out by Engine Remaps is limited to the information available at the time of inspection and through the diagnostic equipment used.
A diagnostic scan is not a full mechanical inspection. A vehicle may have faults that are intermittent, hidden, pending, historic, mechanical, electrical or not detectable at the time of inspection.
A clear diagnostic scan does not guarantee that the vehicle is free from faults.
We may recommend further inspection, repair or specialist diagnosis before carrying out any remap or software work. We may refuse to carry out work if the vehicle appears unsuitable, unsafe or faulty.
9. ECU and TCU Programming Risk
ECU and TCU programming involves reading, writing and modifying vehicle software. Although we take reasonable care, programming carries technical risk.
Programming may fail, be interrupted or require recovery due to factors including:
- low battery voltage;
- unstable power supply;
- faulty wiring;
- poor vehicle communication;
- locked or protected control units;
- previous remaps;
- corrupted software;
- cloned modules;
- damaged ECUs or TCUs;
- water damage;
- hidden electrical faults;
- poor vehicle condition;
- manufacturer restrictions;
- interruptions outside our control.
In rare cases, recovery work, bench programming, dealer programming, towing, replacement modules or further repairs may be required.
Engine Remaps is not responsible for programming failure caused by pre-existing vehicle faults, previous software changes, damaged modules, poor maintenance, electrical issues or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
10. Performance, Economy and Results Disclaimer
Any figures or claims relating to BHP, torque, MPG, fuel economy, throttle response, drivability or performance are estimates only.
Actual results vary depending on factors including:
